Aesthetic Dentistry is a multidisciplinary approach that aims to protect the functional health of the teeth while giving the patient a natural, confident smile in harmony with their facial features. This process, applied in our clinic, is based on digital planning methods commonly known as Smile Design.
Every individual's facial anatomy, age factor and aesthetic expectations are different. For this reason, our treatments are protocolized entirely personally, from material selection to tooth shape.
Contents
1. Laminate Veneer (Porcelain Laminate)
This is one of the most conservative methods in aesthetic dentistry. They are extremely thin (0.3 - 0.7 mm), highly translucent ceramic structures applied only to the front surfaces of the teeth.
- Minimal Intervention: Very little tissue is removed from the tooth, or in some cases it can be applied without any preparation at all.
- Natural Appearance: Because reinforced glass ceramics such as E-max are used, they are indistinguishable from natural tooth enamel.
- Tissue Compatibility: They show excellent biological harmony with the gums.
2. Zirconium-Supported Restorations
Zirconium is a tissue-friendly full-coverage material that combines both durability and aesthetics. It is especially preferred for missing teeth or teeth with excessive substance loss.
- Durability: It is resistant to chewing forces and can be safely used on back teeth.
- Masking: It successfully masks the color of underlying dark or root-canal-treated teeth.
- Gum Health: Unlike traditional metal-supported crowns, it does not create a gray reflection at the gum margin.
3. Teeth Whitening (Bleaching)
This is a chemical process applied to lighten the color of discolored or naturally yellow-toned teeth by several shades. The professional whitening procedures applied in our clinic are performed safely without damaging the tooth enamel.
- In-Office Whitening: A fast method that gives results in about 1 hour in the clinic environment under the dentist's supervision.
- Home Whitening: A supportive method that the patient applies at home with custom-made trays and gels.
The Smile Design Philosophy:
Ideal smile design is not just about whitening the teeth; it is the process of rearranging tooth lengths, gum levels and lip distance according to the rules of the golden ratio.
Treatment Process and Planning
An aesthetic restoration process usually consists of the following stages:
- Digital Analysis: Designing a plan suited to your facial line based on photographs and digital measurements.
- Mock-up (Trial): Showing the finished result in your mouth with temporary materials before starting treatment.
- Application: Preparing the teeth according to the chosen method (Laminate or Zirconium) and transferring the measurements to the laboratory process.
- Final: Adapting the permanent restorations to the teeth after approximately 2-3 sessions.
Frequently Asked Questions
With proper oral care and routine check-ups every 6 months, zirconium and laminates can be used for 10-15 years or even longer.
Whitening performed under a dentist's supervision with gels of the correct concentration causes no permanent damage to the tooth enamel.
The basic principle in modern aesthetic dentistry is "minimally invasive", meaning the least possible tissue loss. With porcelain laminates, only 0.3 - 0.7 mm (about the thickness of a fingernail) is reduced, and in some cases no-prep application without any preparation is possible. With zirconium, much less trimming is done compared to traditional metal crowns, protecting tooth tissue to the maximum extent.
No. The high-quality E-max ceramics and zirconium materials we use are not porous like natural tooth enamel. They are not affected by coloring agents such as tea, coffee or cigarettes, and thanks to their smooth surfaces they do not hold stains. With proper oral care, they retain their original brightness for years.
